The 5 Steps of Jewelry Casting

Casting can be broken down into five parts:

1. A wax pattern and plaster are used to create a mold.
2. The mold is put into the oven until the plaster hardens.
3. In the oven, the wax melts out of a hollow cavity inside the mold.
4. Metal, gold, or silver is poured into the cavity of the mold.
5. The mold is thrown into cold water to dissipate. You’re then left with shining jewelry.
